LaSalle College Jakarta once again took part as an official host of Global Game Jam 2026, a worldwide event that brings together game creators from diverse backgrounds to collaborate, experiment, and create within a limited timeframe.
Over the course of 48 hours, participants were challenged to design and develop a game inspired by this year’s global theme, “Mask.” The theme invited participants to explore various interpretations from identity and perception to hidden meanings behind what we choose to reveal or conceal expressed through both digital games and board games.
More than just a game creation event, Global Game Jam serves as a platform for young creators to step outside their comfort zones, push their creative limits, and transform ideas into tangible works within an intensive and collaborative environment. The energy of the event encourages experimentation, teamwork, and creative problem-solving, making the experience both challenging and rewarding.
One of the notable submissions this year was a board game titled “Fish Me Out,” created by participant Alfian Anjar Javanica. The project demonstrated how the global theme could be translated into an engaging and interactive gameplay experience through a physical game format.
LaSalle College Jakarta’s continued involvement in Global Game Jam reflects its commitment to supporting the creative ecosystem and providing space for emerging talents to explore, collaborate, and grow within the rapidly evolving game industry.
